Skywings Flight Training partners up with Gill Aviation for permanent on-site maintenance

Skywings Flight Training is delighted to announce its partnership with Gill Aviation for maintenance on-site at its Antwerp airport campus. Part 145 organization Gill Aviation, based at Kortrijk Wevelgem airfield, is already the CAO (combined airworthiness organization) for Skywings but as the school has grown and operations have intensified, on-site daily maintenance and repairs will ensure smoother flight operations for students.

Gill Aviation has a long history of expertise in the specific types in our fleet (Diamond 40 and 42, Robin DR401 with Diesel engines) and has proven its worth over the course of the last years by keeping our fleet healthy and operational. With a full-time engineer and a spare parts shop in our hangar, we are not only able to service our own aircraft but also offer similar services to private owners of aircraft based at Antwerp airport.

The decision to cooperate with a young, dynamic maintenance provider will contribute to our mission to provide professional airline training in an airline environment from day one. Students will learn to interact with engineers in an operational setting and will find many opportunities to “peek under the hood” of aircraft in maintenance, creating an extra dimension to the technical aspects of pilot training. Furthermore, this partnership ensures that our primary core value (the safety of students, instructors and staff) is also put into practice on a daily base.
