Skywings conclut un accord à long terme avec l’aéroport de Castellón pour la formation pratique de ses élèves-pilotes

Skywings Flight Training has signed a long-term agreement with Castellón Airport in Spain to further expand its practical flight training activities. From Castellón, Skywings student pilots will complete an important part of their basic flight training, both within the integrated ATPL programme and the MPL programme operated by Skywings in collaboration with Brussels Airlines.

The agreement marks another important step in the international development and expansion of Skywings’ training activities. Castellón will become a structural training base within the Skywings training programme, complementing the school’s operations in Belgium.

From Belgium to Spain

During their training, students will spend approximately three to six months in Castellón, where they will complete a significant part of their initial practical flight training.

Skywings has four Diamond DA40 training aircraft permanently based at Castellón Airport. Approximately 60 Skywings student pilots are expected to complete practical training at the Spanish base each year.

The choice of Castellón is deliberate. The region benefits from favourable weather conditions throughout the year, allowing flight training to be conducted with a high degree of continuity. This is particularly important for intensive integrated training programmes, where predictable scheduling and consistent access to flying hours are essential.

At the same time, Castellón Airport provides a professional and aviation-friendly environment in which future airline pilots can develop their skills. Its modern infrastructure, controlled airspace and variety of available training scenarios allow Skywings to progressively prepare students for an operational environment that closely reflects what they will later encounter in commercial aviation.

Building a permanent presence in Castellón

The partnership extends well beyond simply positioning aircraft and students in Spain. Skywings is establishing a permanent local presence in Castellón.

Skywings already employs two people at its Castellón operation and intends to double this number over the coming year as activities at the base continue to grow.

The presence of Skywings also creates additional economic activity for the region. Students and instructors stay in Castellón for extended periods and make use of local accommodation, restaurants, shops and other services throughout their stay.

One training standard, two locations

While part of the flight training will take place in Spain, the philosophy remains unchanged: every student is trained according to one integrated Skywings standard.

This applies both to students enrolled in the ATPL programme and to future airline pilots completing the MPL programme in collaboration with Brussels Airlines. The Castellón base provides Skywings with additional capacity and flexibility to further develop these programmes without compromising on training quality.

Through its long-term agreement with Castellón Airport, Skywings is therefore investing not simply in additional flying capacity, but in a sustainable training infrastructure for the next generation of airline pilots.
